Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

British Ipsum ("we", "us") operates british-ipsum.com, a free placeholder text generator. This page explains what information is collected when you use the site, how it's used, and the choices you have. The short version: we don't ask you to create an account, we don't collect personal information to let you use the generators, and we don't sell data to anyone.

Information we collect

Using the generators: none. Text generation happens entirely in your browser, and we don't see or store what you generate.

Contact form: if you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide. We use these solely to read and reply to your message. They are not added to any mailing list, shared with third parties, or sold. The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam, which is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what devices they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address to provide this. We use this information only to improve the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertising, which helps keep the site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of a range of third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info/choices. If you're visiting from the UK or the European Economic Area, you'll be shown a consent message before any advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you — which, in practice, is limited to anything you've sent us via the contact form. To exercise any of these rights, just get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes won't be applied retroactively.

Questions about any of this? Drop us a line — we promise a considerably less waffly reply than our generators produce.
